Guidelines for GRAD Individuals once you reach the age of 21

At the age 21, all the GRAD drivers are released from the program:

  • During learner's permit stage, once you are age 21, you may immediately schedule a road test appointment. No driving certification form or six (6) months holding period is required.

  • During provisional license stage, once you are age 21, you are no longer covered by the GRAD program (of which the provisional license is a part of) and you may immediately visit a DMV service center location to obtain a regular driver's license. No driving certification form or six (6) months holding period is required. It is not mandatory that you convert your provisional license to a regular driver's license once you turn age 21. Instead, you may wait until your provisional license expires to obtain a regular license.
