How do I get my license reinstated?

If your license has been suspended, it may be reinstated at the end of your 90-day suspension period. If your license has been revoked, you may apply for reinstatement at the end of your revocation period. You will be required to have a reinstatement hearing, which can be scheduled in person or by mail.

When eligible for reinstatement, you must pay the reinstatement fee and clear any other stops on your record.

  • To schedule a hearing in person, you must visit the Driver Improvement Office.

  • To schedule by mail:
    DMV Driver Improvement Office
    Po Box 91980
    Washington, DC 20090
If you drive with a suspended or revoked license, you may be jailed for up to one year, and/or pay a fine of up to $5,000.
