Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Skills Road Test

An individual seeking to schedule a CDL Skills Road test must possess a CDL learner's permit and bring the appropriate vehicle for the Class license and/or endorsements they are seeking to obtain. CDL Skills Road test examinations are administered in English only.

Endorsements for Hazardous Materials (H) and Tankers (T) do not require a Skills Road Test. Endorsements for H, T and X (Hazardous Material and Tankers) may not be obtained prior to the issuance of the appropriate CDL (Class A, B or C).

Note: Failure to cancel a scheduled road test at least two business days (Monday – Friday) prior to your test will result in a $10 cancellation fee. This fee will be collected the next time you renew your license, update your address, or complete another license-related transaction. This fee will not be charged if you cancel your road test prior to two business days of the test. You can cancel a road test by calling the DMV Call Center at 311 or (202) 737-4404.
