How do I schedule a hearing on a
minor moving violation?
To contest a minor moving violation, your request must be received
within 60 calendar days from the date of the ticket. However, if you do not schedule a hearing within 30 calendar days a penalty equal to your fine will be added and your driving privileges may be suspended.
Do not submit payment if you are contesting the ticket. You will
receive a notice with the date and time of your hearing.
- To schedule a hearing by mail for a traffic violation, check
the box marked "deny" on the back of ticket and return it with
your written hearing request to:

- You may also appear in-person to request a hearing on a traffic
violation by reporting to Adjudication
Services, Scheduling Unit, Monday through Friday, 8:15 am
to 4 pm.
All scheduled hearings are conducted at DMV Adjudication
Services. When you arrive on your scheduled hearing date,
you must check in and present your hearing notice or a valid
driver's license.
How do I schedule a hearing on a photo enforcement ticket?
- To contest a photo enforcement ticket, your request must be
received not later than 60 calendar days of the ticket mailing
date. Failure to schedule a hearing within 30 calendar days will
result in the assessment of a penalty equal to the fine.
- Hearings on photo enforcement tickets may be scheduled by mail.
Submit your written request to DMV Adjudication Services, Attn:
Mail Adjudication, PO Box 37135, Washington, DC 20013. You must
return the ticket with your hearing request. Check one of the boxes on the back of the ticket.
A notice with the hearing date and time will be mailed to the
driver's or registered owner's address of record.
Can I reschedule prior to the hearing date?
To reschedule a minor moving or photo enforcement violation hearing
you must submit a written request at least 7 business days prior
to the hearing date to DMV Hearing Request, PO Box 37135 Washington,
DC 20013.
