Change of Address

Welcome to the DMV Change of Address Section.

This section will provide information for change of residence or mailing address for your District of Columbia driver license, non- driver identification card, vehicle registration and titling.

NOTE: Temporary mailing addresses and/or P.O. Boxes are not allowed.

Please select as appropriate:

  • Moving TO the District of Columbia
  • Moving WITHIN the District of Columbia
  • Moving OUT OF the District of Columbia

Residents are required to update changes in address within 5 days to keep their records current, must complete a Proof of Residency Form*, mail to and/or visit any of the DMV Service location along with the additional Fee Payment.

Failure to update your address with the DMV may result in an inability to send you inspection, license, vehicle registration renewals, ticket notices, license suspensions/revocations and other pertinent DMV documents. As a result, you may experience inconveniences and fees. You must inform DMV of change in your address either by:

    • Money Orders
    • Credit Cards(except American Express)
  • Mail
    • Checks (Personal/Certified)
    • Money Orders
    • No Cash Accepted
