A DC resident rental car permit may be issued when a resident in a residential zoned neighborhood has need to temporarily rent a vehicle. You must present the following documents at a DMV Service Center:

• Rental agreement listing your name, the vehicle identification number, make and model. If the agreement indicates that insurance has been declined, you must show proof of DC insurance on your existing vehicle that is registered in the District.
• Copy of DC Driver's License

The parking permit is free of charge and valid for up to 15 days. To renew the permit, all information must be resubmitted.
